Direct Billing Services from Hakim Family Nutrition
The direct billing service at Hakim Family Nutrition is a free service for clients with insurance plans from Great-West Life and Manitoba Blue Cross for in-person sessions.
Please note that you are not required to use the Direct Billing Service for appointments with us.
Important Notes About our Direct Billing Service
- Clients are completely responsible for reviewing and ensuring that their insurance policy covers Registered Dietitian appointments.
- There is a possibility that your insurance provider may not allow Hakim Family Nutrition to be paid directly. In this case, we will request to be paid in full for your appointment and provide you with a receipt. Your receipt must be submitted as a claim to your insurance provider, who will reimburse you directly.
- If you require a doctor’s note for your insurance coverage, you must bring it at the time of your appointment, or you will be charged the full amount for the appointment.

Hakim Family Nutrition provides direct bills to the following 19 insurance companies. In order to know the amount of coverage please make a call to your insurance provider to find out if your insurance provider covers the cost of nutrition counselling provided by a Registered Dietitian.

Direct Billing FAQs
“Do I need to pay for any of my nutrition appointment if I qualify for direct billing?”
The amount that you will have to pay varies on your insurance plan. Not all insurance plans cover the full amount of your nutrition appointment. If your insurance plan does not cover 100% of dietitian services, you will be responsible to pay what your insurance plan will not cover.
The amount you will pay is dictated by your insurance coverage, so please check your coverage with your insurance provider. Additionally, you may need to pay a deductible before any coverage is official.
“Do you provide receipts for direct billing?”
At Hakim Family Nutrition, we provide receipts for the percentage of your fees that are not covered by insurance.
“Can you pair two different insurance plans?”
We will gladly pair two different insurance plans, but only if they are from the same insurance provider.
For people covered by more than one insurance plan from the same insurance provider, you can pair the benefits for both plans. Please ensure that you have provided us with all insurance information at the time of the appointment.
We will only direct bill to one insurance company. It is the client’s responsibility to submit the provided receipt for the amount paid out of pocket to the other insurance provider.
