Who is our Dietitian?
My name is Elahe Askari and I have a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutritional Sciences. After graduating from the University of Manitoba in 2014, I pursued my dietetic interest and completed the Manitoba Partnership Dietetic Education Program in 2015.
I later wrote the Canadian Dietetic Registration Examination, which is a requirement for official registration with the Manitoban provincial regulatory body, the College of Dietitians of Manitoba. I then received the professional title of Registered Dietitian (RD).
So far, my professional accomplishments include:
- BSc. in Human Nutritional Sciences – University of Manitoba
- RD – the College of Dietitians of Manitoba
- Certified Craving Change™ facilitator
- Newcomers Nutrition Educator – Food Matters Manitoba and Altered Mind Inc.
- Authorized Contractor – Manitoba Health Food Handler’s Certification Program
I am a wife and mother of two wonderful children. When it comes to personal wellness, I am a big fan of green tea, oat bran muffins, biking along pathways, and cooking meals from scratch.
As an avid learner, I respect the beliefs of others, their choices, and their way of life. I truly enjoy speaking with people of different ethnicities to learn from their unique life experiences.
When I am not working at my nutrition practice, I volunteer with Diabetes Canada to help fight against diabetes by teaching others how to make healthier food choices.
Recently, I was awarded the 2019 Outstanding Healthcare Professional Award in Manitoba for my work as a volunteer healthcare professional. We cannot prevent diabetes completely, but we can help improve the lives of many.
“Elahe has an understanding of the health benefits of making foods with a variety of common middle eastern spices, and my son and I enjoyed learning through participating in her well thought out hands-on demonstrations.”
“Something I really appreciate about Elahe is her friendly approach and enthusiasm when it comes to nutrition. She also has little ones and I think she would be great with dealing with family needs.”
